That first Bullmastiff, Merlin, was everything I expected from my memory and so much more.  However, he had no interest in being a show dog. After a few attempts at showing in AKC Confirmation, I gave in to his preference to be the family dog. Not unexpectedly, after having gotten a taste of the show scene, I found my first show dog; a female, Gwen. She was from the same line as Merlin and went on to earn her AKC Championship. As my first Bullmastiff, Merlin’s name became the first part of the new kennel name; Gwen added the second part. Thus in 1995, Merlgwen Bullmastiffs came to be.

Hello, I’m Jenny Baum, I have been training/showing/breeding bullmastiffs since 1976 in hopes that the next litter will be better than their parents. I breed to the standard with Health, Temperament, Soundness and Type of primary importance in the order listed. With only 8 litters in the past 15 years, I am proud to be the breeder/owner/handler of multiple specialty winners and the most titled bullmastiff in the history of the breed. A puppy from Beowulf makes you part of my family with lifetime support.

We are Bill & Kae Arrington of Green Mountain, North Carolina. We have four Bullmastiffs that live in our home and are our companions. We try to breed each year to improve our dogs. Our dogs enjoy 100+ acres inside fences and without traffic. We didn’t set out to compete in conformation shows. We have had large dogs and guard dogs for over 35 years and never considered showing. Our dogs have been for work and for companions.
